CMW, HdG girls clinch lacrosse division titles

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs clinched the UCBAC Chesapeake Division girls lacrosse championship Monday with its 15-7 win over visiting Patterson Mill.

The Mustangs (5-0 league, 8-3 overall) led the Huskies (3-3, 5-8), 10-3 at half.

"We started well tonight and the seniors really led the way on their night," CMW coach Brent Ritz said. "Tonight wasn't our best night of lacrosse, but we continued to show growth in the concepts we are working on in practice."

Moriah Snyder led the Mustangs scoring with four goals, while Julia O'Mara, Lauren O'Mara, Kendall Little, Haley Matthai and Haley Alexander scored two goals each. Jordan Landsman added a single goal. Alexander had two assists and Little had one.

"Moriah Snyder really stepped up tonight and played a really nice offensive game for us. We are really starting to find a good team chemistry and rely on a true team game to win that will be beneficial to us in the playoffs," Ritz said.

Reilly Donovan and Kaley Thompson led the Huskies with two goals each. EJ Karwatka, Maggie Egan and Kate Lamberti added a goal each and Nina Urban had an assist.

CMW played two goalies with Katelyn Miller making three saves and Skye Graham making two. Huskies goalie Abby Smith had six saves.

Warriors clinch Susquehanna

Havre de Grace (6-0, 8-1) clinched the Susquehanna Division crown, beating visiting Elkton, 17-5, Monday night.

Taylor Johnson pumped in five goals to lead the Warriors, while Ashley Burkhardt led other multiple goal scorers with three goals. Caraline Cypher, Julie Hagis, Kaley Harris and Rachel Wilson scored two goals each.

Goalie Lauren Butler made 16 saves.

Hawks fall in OT

North Harford (6-7) traveled to St. Paul's for a non-league game and lost, 16-14, in overtime, Monday.

Maria Auth tossed in seven goals and assisted on another to pace the Hawks scoring. Ashley Hedrick and Shelby Mitchel (one assist) added three goals each. Megan Odonnell added a goal and assist and Kirsten Gryzbowski had one assist.

Hawks goalie Jodie Enfield finished with 12 saves.

In a Susquehanna game played in Aberdeen (1-5, 1-9), the Eagles lost 22-13 to North East.

Cougars win two

Fallston picked up a pair of wins on back-to-back days. The Cougars beat visiting St. Mark's, 16-4, Saturday, the day after traveling to North East and winning 16-3 in non-division play.

CMW wins big

Having won one of the more important girls lacrosse league games Tuesday, C Milton Wright stepped out of league play Thursday and was just as impressive.

The Mustangs (7-3) rolled over visiting South River,13-2. CMW led at the half, 8-0.

"After struggling to put the ball in the net on Tuesday, we really wanted to shoot more successfully tonight," Mustangs coach Brent Ritz said. "We won six of nine draws in the first half and really forced South River into tough shots and goalie Katelyn Miller kept a clean sheet through the first half. I was really pleased with our poise in our play tonight. This was a great win for us against a quality program in the state."

Haley Matthai and Lauren O'Mara scored three goals each to lead the scoring. Jordan Landsman and Julia O'Mara added two goals each and Kendall Little, Haley Alexander and Laura Will each had a single goal.

CMW assists were credited to Alexander, Matthai, Little and Lauren O'Mara.

CMW played two goalies, with Miller making nine saves and Skye Graham making two.

Huskies upset Bobcats

Patterson Mill (3-2 league, 4-8) upset visiting Bel Air (3-2, 6-4) Thursday, 6-2, in UCBAC Chesapeake Division play. The Huskies led at the half, 4-1.

Patterson Mill scoring was led by Kaley Thompson, who scored three goals. EJ Karwatka, Kate Lamberti and Sarah Alders had a goal each.

Olivia Beil and Brianna Collins added assists.

Shannon Williams and Sam Keesey had goals for Bel Air.

Patterson Mill goalie Abby Smith made seven saves and Bel Air goalie Sydney Matthews made four saves.

Panthers beat Eagles

In Susquehanna Division action Thursday, Perryville (5-1, 6-2) blew out visiting Aberdeen (1-4, 1-8), 19-2.

Merve Akbay led the Panthers with four goals and three assists and Sydnie Bjork added three goals and four assists. Bea Muscella also scored three goals.

Taylor Poore added two goals and two assists, while single goals were scored by Didem Akbay, Makenzie Pollak, Laura Ricketts (two assists), Ally Remesch, Taylor DiPietro, Kiersten Huelsbeck and Jordan Justice.

Alex Jones and Taira Baldauf scored Aberdeen's goals and Brianna McMillian had an assist.

Panthers Goalie Cali Tyson finished with three saves.

Elks beat Mariners

Joppatowne (1-5, 1-6) lost at Elkton, 14-5, Thursday in Susquehanna play.

Sami Soul and Kelsie Davis scored two goals each and Trista Smith scored one.

Goalie Savannah Day had 14 saves.

Other scores

Havre de Grace (6-0, 7-1) stayed on top of the Susquehanna standings with a 14-5 win at North East, while Fallston (2-2, 5-5) needed overtime to win at Harford Tech (1-3, 6-3), 12-11, in Chesapeake play.
