Patterson Mill gets first girls lacrosse victory

The Patterson Mill girls lacrosse team posted its first win of 2015 Monday, visiting and beating Edgewood, 13-8, in UCBAC Chesapeake Division play.

The Huskies (1-2, 1-0) led at the half, 6-4. Edgewood slipped to 2-2/0-2.

Junior EJ Karwatka led the Huskies scoring with five goals and four assists. Kaley Thompson added three goals and an assist and Sam Herman chipped in with two goals. Kate Lamberti had a goal and assist, while single goals were scored by Nina Urban and Olivia Beil. Meg Wedekind had one assist

Alyssa Rankin led Edgewood with four goals and an assist.

Patterson Mill goalie Abby Smith recorded six saves.

Bobcats top Cougars

Bel Air (2-1, 2-0) stayed perfect in division with its 11-8 win at Fallston (0-2, 0-1) in Chesapeake play.

Anna Farley, Julia Henry, Shannon Williams and Sam Keesey scored two goals each in the win, while Emily McQuay, Bekah Riley and Kami Holt notched single goals.

Riley dished out three assists, while Katy Higinbothom, Holt, Lexi Strobel and McQuay each had one assist.

Bobcats goalie Molly Loughlin made 12 saves. Stats for the Cougars were not provided.

Huskies fall at Hereford

Patterson Mill was still winless in girls lacrosse play Friday after an 12-8 loss at Hereford. The Huskies trailed at halftime, 9-3.

Sam Herman scored three goals to pace the Huskies, while EJ Karwatka added two goals and two assists.

Kaley Thompson, a freshman, scored a pair of goals and assisted on another. Nina Urban also scored for Patterson Mill.

Huskies goalie Abby Smith finished with 12 saves.

Rams beat Indians

Edgewood beat visiting North East, 17-5, Friday in non-division action.

Caitlin Rankin led the Rams with five goals and Alyssa Rankin scored four.

Jordyn Carll, Nicole Wiland and Tatiyona Stamper added two goals each, while single goals were scored by Allison Bomhardt, Paige Graff and Riley Johnson.

Alyssa Rankin added five assists. Stamper added three, Wiland two, and Caitlin Rankin, one.

Goalie Darcy Baynes had one save.

Other score

Fallston was edged at Dulaney, 8-7, Friday. Stats were not provided.

Eagles post first win

The Aberdeen girls lacrosse team collected its first win Thursday night, edging visiting Joppatowne, 13-12, in UCBAC Susquehanna Division play.

The Eagles (1-1) were trailing at the half, 8-5, and were still trailing with about seven minutes to play, when an illegal stick call against a recent goal scorer from Joppatowne nullified her goal.

The Eagles and Mariners then went back-and-forth until Alex Jones of Aberdeen scored the winning goal with 90 seconds to play. The goal was Jones' team-leading eighth.

Bri McMillian added three goals for the Eagles and Lea Kilczewski scored two goals.

Aberdeen goalie Jasmine Figueroa made six saves. Joppatowne stats were not reported.

Mustangs beat Rams

C. Milton Wright (2-1) opened its Chesapeake Division schedule Thursday night as well, beating visiting Edgewood, 14-3. The Mustangs led, 10-2, at the half.

Haley Alexander, Moriah Snyder and Haley Matthai netted three goals each to lead the winners. Jordan Landsman added a pair of goals, while Lauren O'Mara, Julia O'Mara and Mackenzie Aponte each scored one. Landsman and Kendall Little added assists.

Alyssa Rankin scored two goals for Edgewood and Nicole Wiland scored once. Caitlin Rankin had an assist for the Rams (1-1).

The Mustangs played two goalies with Katelyn Miller making five saves and Skye Graham making four. Freshman keeper Darcy Baynes had 13 saves for Edgewood.

"Skye Graham and Katelyn Miller are continuing to play really well in the goal for us. We are relying on our defense to keep teams to a low score as our offense tries to find its way," Mustangs coach Brent Ritz said. "Edgewood played well and really supported each other well on the defensive end of the field."

Bobcats beat Hawks

Bel Air (1-1) beat visiting North Harford, 12-11, Thursday night in Chesapeake action.

Bekah Riley tossed in five goals to highlight the Bobcats scoring. Anna Farley and Julia Henry scored two goals each, while single goals were scored by Shannon Williams, Sam Keesey and Emily McQuay.

Henry also had two assists, while Farley, Keesey, McQuay, Riley and Jenna Signorelli each had single assists.

Bobcats goalie Sydney Matthews recorded seven saves.

North Harford (0-1) stats were not reported.

Other score

Havre de Grace opened its season at home Thursday and won, 12-5, over Rising Sun in Susquehanna play. Stats were not provided.
