Bel Air, CMW, Fallston advance to girls lacrosse region title games

Girls lacrosse teams from Bel Air and C. Milton Wright won regional section championships Monday and Fallston won a region semifinal, meaning all three will play for region titles Wednesday.

Bel Air's win came at Perry Hall, 10-8, in Class 3A-4A South Section I play.


Anna Farley scored four goals to lead the Bobcats (10-6) who will host Glen Burnie or Catonsville in Wednesday's region final. Morgan Hollenback and Tori Gryglewski also scored multiple goals with two apiece. Bobcats goalie Jamie Bittner finished with nine saves.

Cougars beat Cobras


Fallston eliminated visiting Harford Tech, 18-5, in 1A-2A South semifinal action.

The Cougars (12-3) will host Southern A.A. at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the region final. Southern defeated visiting Patterson Mill, 17-8, Monday. The Huskies end the year 7-9.

Kayla Reilly scored three goals to pace the Cougars, while Caroline English, Zoe Hurlburt, Logan Gasior, Kellie McCreesh and Krista Cooper each scored two goals, to highlight the win.

Becca Williams led Tech (6-6) with three goals and an assist.

Erika Wright make five saves for Fallston and Bryana Wyatt had 15 saves for Tech.

Mustangs beat Hawks

CMW beat host North Harford, 15-10, in 2A-3A North Section II play. The Mustangs will visit Hereford at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Haley Matthai and Haley Alexander combined for eight goals (four apiece) to lead the Mustangs (13-4) to victory. Maggie Gallagher had a good day as well, finishing with three goals.


Katie Clark also scored four goals for North Harford (8-8), while Megan O'Donnell and Jen Doering added two goals each.

Huskies knocked out

Southern A.A. defeated visiting Patterson Mill, 17-8, in 1A-2A South semifinal play.

Sam Herman's three goals and one assist guided the Huskies (7-9). Goalie Abby Smith made three saves.

Friday action

Five Harford girls lacrosse teams kept seasons alive Friday as regional playoffs moved within a game of a reaching a region final.


C. Milton Wright, North Harford, Patterson Mill, Harford Tech and Bel Air were winners, while Edgewood, Joppatowne and Havre de Grace were all eliminated.

Mustangs beat Rams

For the second time in five days, CMW beat host Edgewood. Friday's 19-5 win was a Class 2A-3A North Section II semifinal. The Mustangs (12-4), who defeated the Rams in Monday's UCBAC championship, led 15-2 at the half.

Maggie Gallagher and Julia O'Mara paced the Mustangs, each scoring four goals. Lauren Haggerty and Kendall Little added three goals apiece and Haley Alexander scored twice. The Mustangs also got single goals from Katie Burgee, Haley Matthai and Lauren Cavanaugh.

Caitlin Rankin took care of Edgewood's scoring, tallying all five goals. Alyssa Rankin had an assist and LaDae Boykin had two.

The Mustangs played two goalies with Katelyn Miller making two saves and Skye Graham making four. Edgewood keeper Savannah Kerr had six saves.


The Rams' season ends 10-5.

Hawks move on

North Harford also won in 2A-3A North Section II semifinal play, easily beating top seed Patapsco, 16-2.

Maria Auth and Megan O'Donnell scored three goals apiece to lead the Hawks (8-7), while Katie Clark had two goals and two assists. Ashley Hedrick also scored twice.

The Hawks also got single goals from six other players, including Nicole Latgis, who also had four assists.

The Hawks played three goalies. Haley Ensor and Jodie Enfield each made one save and Michaela Welsh recorded two.


Huskies beat Mariners

Patterson Mill moved on in 1A-2A South quarterfinal play, blanking visiting Joppatowne, 17-0, in the only region not divided into sections. The Huskies led 16-0 at the half.

Gabby Vujanic had a big day for the Huskies (7-8), finishing with four goals and four assists. Sam Herman (one assist), Nina Urban and Sarah Alders added two goals apiece, while EJ Karwatka had one goal and five assists. Other single goal scorers were Megan Wedekind (one assist), Mariel Castronova (one assist), Kate Lamberti, Gabby Chenworth, Haley Scribner and Maddie Novad.

Joppatowne ends the year 1-9.

Cobras need OT

Also in 1A-2A South, Harford Tech needed overtime to beat host Havre de Grace, 18-14.


Tori Arcilesi scored seven goals and Courtney Poole scored six to lead the Cobras (6-5).

Bobcats cruise

In 3A-4A South Section I semifinal action, Bel Air easily advanced with an 14-0 win at Parkville.

Gabi Hall scored three goals to lead the Bobcats and Anna Farley added two goals and two assists. Anna Wehlans and Sam Keesey also scored twice.


Morgan Hollenback and Tori Gryglewski each added a goal and assist, while single goals were also scored by Emily McQuay and Katie Higinbothom.

Bel Air goalie Jamie Bittner made three saves.
