Three Harford girls lacrosse teams advance to region title games

Three Harford County girls lacrosse teams are a win away from region titles after C. Milton Wright, Patterson Mill and Bel Air were all winners Monday.

Mustangs beat Hawks

CMW (11-4) beat a familiar opponent, North Harford (9-8) by a 19-7 score in Class 2A-3A North Section II play.

"We were able to control the draw and really took advantage of transitional opportunities today," Mustangs coach Brent Ritz said. "We continued to improve throughout the game and our defense really worked to get back in line after some mistakes early in the game."

CMW scoring was led by Haley Matthai, five goals and Haley Alexander, four goals. Julia O'Mara and Lauren O'Mara each scored three goals and single goals were scored by Kendall Little, Jordan Landsman, Moriah Snyder and Laura Will.

Maria Auth and Megan O'Donnell scored three goals apiece to pace the Hawks and Claudia Diventi scored one.

Alexander also had four assists for CMW. Lauren O'Mara and Will also had assists.

CMW played two goalies with Katelyn Miller and Skye Graham each making three saves. North Harford keeper Jodi Enfield finished with eight saves.

CMW led at the half, 11-5.

The Mustangs will host Hereford on Wednesday at 5 p.m. for the region title.

"We know they will bring an excellent defensive game plan and will play with a high lacrosse IQ," Ritz said.

Huskies beat Warriors

Patterson Mill's win came in 1A-2A South region play as the Huskies (8-8) beat host Havre de Grace (9-3), 15-10.

Patterson Mill will play at Southern A.A. on Wednesday for the region crown. Game time is yet to be determined.

Kaley Thompson had a huge game for the winners, scoring eight goals. EJ Karwatka, Nina Urban and Olivia Beil scored two goals each and Reilly Donovan added one goal.

Urban, Thompson and Donovan also had assists.

Rachel Wilson scored four goals to pace Havre de Grace and Taylor Johnson netted three goals. Single goals were scored by Ashley Burkhardt, Kaley Harris and Alexa Santiago.

Patterson Mill goalie Abby Smith made six saves and Havre de Grace goalie Lauren Butler had eight saves.

Bobcats beat Franklin

Bel Air (11-4) continued to roll in 3A-4A South Section I play, beating visiting Franklin, 16-2.

Anna Farley, three goals, three assists, led the Bobcats scoring, while Julia Henry, Sam Keesey and Jenna Signorelli added two goals each. Shannon Williams, Morgan Hollenback, Emily McQuay, Bekah Riley, Lexi Strobel, Taylor Patrick and Sam Stachowiak each had single goals.

Williams and Henry also had two assists apiece, with single assists coming from Katy Higinbothom, Keesey, Stachowiak and Karsyn Shek.

The Bobcats played two goalies. Sydney Matthews had four saves and Molly Loughlin had three.

Bel Air will play at Catonsville on Wednesday for the region title. Game time has not been determined.

Other score

Fallston's bid to reach the 1A-2A South final was derailed at Southern A.A. The Cougars (9-7) were edged, 10-9.

Bobcats upset Dulaney

Bel Air traveled to top seed Dulaney Friday and beat the Lions, 11-9, in Class 3A-4A South Section I play.

Sam Keesey scored three goals to pace the Bobcats, while Shannon Williams and Anna Farley tallied two goals each. Emily McQuay, Lauren Asher, Kami Holt and Lexi Strobel each added a single goal.

Farley dished out a pair of assists. Single assists were credited to Julia Henry, McQuay, Keesey and Morgan Hollenback.

Bel Air goalie Molly Loughlin made 16 saves.

Cougars swamp McDonough

Fallston had an easy time in its 1A-2A South quarterfinal, beating visiting McDonough handily, 19-4.

Fallston was led by Katie Donhauser's four goals.

Meghan Muldoon added three goals for the Cougars, while Jesse Brennan, Isabelle Dallam and Becky Streett netted two goals apiece. Single goals were scored by Zoe Hurlburt, Emily Solak, Krista Cooper, Jane Bradley, Emily Stambaugh and Olivia English.

Logan Gasior assisted three goals with single assists coming from Zoe Hurlburt, Maddie Hurlburt, Cooper, Muldoon, Stambaugh and Anna Dennison.

Southern beat visiting Joppatowne (1-9), 15-1, Friday.

Huskies beat Cobras

Patterson Mill also advanced in 1A-2A South beating host Harford Tech (6-7), 18-15, in a tight quarterfinal. The Huskies led 11-8 at the half.

Kaley Thompson led the scoring with four goals, while EJ Karwatka and Sarah Alders each scored three goals.

Sam Herman, Kate Lamberti and Reilly Donovan added two goals apiece. Single goals were scored by Olivia Beil and Nina Urban.

Lamberti and Donovan had two assists each and single assists were credited to Herman, Beil and Thompson.

Tech senior Becca Williams scored four goals in the loss, but finished her career as Tech's all-time leading scorer with 147 goals. Williams also had an assist.

Tori Arcilesi paced the Cobras with five goals and Sam Volz added four goals. Courtney Poole had two goals.

Patterson Mill goalie Abby Smith recorded five saves. Tech played two keepers with Bryana Wyatt making five saves and Tori Grubowski making nine.

Mustangs beat Rams

C. Milton Wright moved along in 2A-3A North Section II action, beating visiting Edgewood (6-8), 21-6.

Julia O'Mara and Moriah Snyder each netted four goals to lead the Mustangs.

Haley Alexander, Kendall Little, Haley Matthai, Lauren O'Mara and Laura Will had two goals apiece for CMW. Single goals were scored by Jordan Landsman, Emma Cassilly and Makenzie Aponte.

Caitlin Rankin scored three goals to pace the Rams. Nicole Wiland added two goals and Alyssa Rankin had one.

CMW played two goalies, with Katelyn Miller and Skye Graham each making two saves. Edgewood goalie Darcy Baynes had three saves.
