Patterson Mill girls basketball caps big week by thrashing Fallston

It was a big week for Patterson Mill in girls basketball.

First, the defending 2A State Champion Huskies went to Aberdeen Tuesday evening and beat the powerhouse Eagles, 58-54. They followed that with an easy win, 59-17, at Fallston Thursday night.

In other girls basketball Thursday, Perryville went to Joppatowne and outlasted the Mariners, 42-40. North Harford beat Edgewood by an equally close score, 37-35. C. Milton Wright easily beat Bel Air, 49-28. Harford Tech beat Bo Manor by the same score, 49-28. And Havre de Grace beat Elkton, 47-37.

Aberdeen bounced back from its tough loss to Patterson Mill by thrashing Dundalk Wednesday night, 71-9.

In Tuesday's showdown game between Harford County's top two programs the past few years, Aberdeen led, 13-10, after the first quarter, but had a difficult second quarter and trailed, 30-23, at the half. Patterson Mill still led, 46-39, heading into the final period and remained on top at the final horn.

Qalea Ismail led the way for Patterson Mill with 26 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals. Khayla Mitchell had 11 points, Sam Herman had eight points, seven steals and four assists and Kate Eckart had six rebounds and three assists.

No statistics for Aberdeen were provided.

Against Fallston Thursday, the game was over before halftime as Patterson Mill led, 41-11, at the game's midway point.

Ismail scored 25 and Herman had 13, Mitchell had eight, Chyna Latimer had six, Sam Barnett had four, Eckart had two and Delaney Damico had one.

Logan Gasior led Fallston with six points.

In the North Harford's two-point, 37-35 win over Edgewood, Claire Macatee scored the game winning basket at the buzzer after Savannah Testerman had dribbled the length of the court with seven seconds remaining.

The Hawks improved their record to 3-2.

In Perryville's 42-40 win over Joppatowne, Jill Miller led Perryville with 14 points, six rebounds and three steals. Teri Wennersten had 13 points, including seven foul shots, and 10 rebounds. Jules Jones scored 10 points and had two rebounds.

No stats for Joppatowne were provided.
