For three quarters Monday night, the Bel Air girls basketball team seemingly was en route to a non-league victory over visiting Perry Hall. Then came the fourth quarter number.
Leading through three quarters, 27-22, Bel Air struggled offensively to begin the final eight minutes, while the Gators had success from the free throw line, which was a real problem for the Gators over the first three quarters. The find led the Gators to a 40-37 win.
Havre de Grace and John Carroll also lost in girls basketball Monday.
Against Bel Air, Perry Hall was a dismal 1-for-10 at the line before making eight of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter. That helped the winners gain their 18-10 fourth quarter advantage.
Brittany Gilliam led the Gators (4-4) with a game-high 11 points, scoring six in the fourth quarter. Jazmine Hall added nine points on three, three-point baskets and Kayla Stokes finished with eight.
Bel Air, which led, 10-2, after one quarter and at the half, 17-11, was led by Beka Riley and Oceana Murphy. Each scored 10 points. The Bobcats also got seven points from Anna Wehland. Bel Air is 3-6.
Warriors lose in OT
Havre de Grace (3-4) trailed host Bo Manor all night, but battled back to force overtime.
In the extra period, the Warriors were outscored by one and lost, 45-44.
Patriots fall
John Carroll (3-6) lost to visiting McDonogh, 58-20. Ashley Hunter scored six points and Ola Ekundayo added five.
HCS posts win
Harford Christian improved to 8-1 on Friday, visiting and beating Greater Grace Christian Academy, 46-38.
The Eagles outscored the host in three of four quarters and led, 25-19, at the half.
Taylor Lavin, with 14 points, was one of two Eagles to score in double figures and Lily Loomis scored 12.
The Eagles also had a pair with double digits each in rebounds. Madeline Purdy led with 12 and Crystal Kline added 11. Nicole Reifer added team-highs in steals (five) and assists (six) in the win.
