Patterson Mill field hockey beats Fallston on penalty strokes

The Patterson Mill and Fallston field hockey teams needed penalty strokes Wednesday to decide a winner in their UCBAC Chesapeake (upper) Division game in Fallston. When strokes were over, it was Patterson Mill (3-2-1, 4-6-1) who claimed the 3-2 win.

Alyssa Jourdan and Christina Claypool scored goals for Patterson Mill in regulation time, while Marissa Perfetti and Danielle McDiarmid netted goals in regulation for Fallston (2-2, 4-6). Lindsay Summers added one assist.

Scoring for the Huskies in strokes were Claypool, Linnea Gonzales and Jaelyn Felts and Fallston got stroke goals from Nicole McDiarmid and Danielle McDiarmid.

Maddie Hedrick had 12 total saves in goal for Patterson Mill. Goalie saves for Fallston were Sarah DiMaggio (five) and Kristina Baker (three).

Mustangs beat Bobcats

C. Milton Wright (5-0, 10-1) guaranteed itself at least a share of the Chesapeake title Wednesday night by virtue of its 7-1 win at Bel Air. The Mustangs led 4-1 at the half.

Junior Jenny Eckert led the Mustangs with three goals, her second hat-trick of the season.

Sabrina Rhodes, Madie Adams, Maggie Gallagher and Emily Jachelski also scored for CMW. Rhodes also notched three assists while Brooke Williams, Haley Matthai and Gallager were each credited with one.

Bel Air's Tory Gryglewski countered for the Bobcats, scoring a penalty stroke goal in the first half.

CMW goalie Sydney Rhodes was credited with three saves. Nicole Leighty came on and was credited with one save. Bel Air goalie Meghan MIngioni had 15 saves.

Mariners blank Warriors

Joppatowne continued its solid season Wednesday, visiting and shutting out winless Havre de Grace, 2-0, in Susquehanna (lower) play. The Mariners led 1-0 at the half.

Deja Turner scored the Mariners first half goal unassisted, while Ashley Martinez scored the second half goal, also unassisted.

April Kinyua made no saves for Joppatowne (4-2, 7-3, while Havre de Grace (0-6, 0-10) goalie Taylor Smith had 10 saves.

Indians drop Cobras

Harford Tech (1-4-1, 3-6-1) ) lost 4-0 at North East Wednesday in Susquehanna play. The Cobras trailed 2-0 at the half. Kenady Schwinn had nine saves in goal and Hannah Snyder had seven for the Cobras.
