CMW blasts Elkton in Monday field hockey

Playing on the road in its Monday contest, C. Milton Wright thumped host Elkton in field hockey, 10-0.

CMW's Madie Adams and Audrey Boroshok each scored a hat trick in the victory, while Sabrina Rhodes scored once and dished out a team-best five assists. Ruthie Purce had one goal and one assist, while Eliese Thrush and Sam Villamanga each scored one goal. Haley Matthai picked up two assists for the Mustangs.

Topped by Tome

The Joppatowne Mariners were knocked off, 2-1, by the visiting Tome School squad in an overtime contest on Monday.

With 30 seconds left in regulation time and the Mariners trailing, 1-0, Joppatowne's Carlie Reuling scored to tie the contest at one goal apiece.

Tome came back to score the game-winner in the first overtime period on a penalty corner.

Joppatowne goalie Hannah Naddaf posted nine saves.

Puckett returns

In their first game with head coach Alice Puckett back at the helm after a four-year hiatus, the Fallston Cougars began their 2013 field hockey season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Elkton Friday.

Fallston led at halftime, 4-0.

Tara Wheeler scored three times and dished out one assist, while Liz Hebert also scored a hat trick in the victory. Meghan Muldoon, Jenna Caldwell and Karlie Abbott all had one goal and one assist. Erin McClelland passed out one assist for Fallston.

Fallston goalies Kayla Solomon and Caitlin Phillips combined to whitewash Elkton.

Tech over Kenwood

The Harford Tech Cobras won their season opener on Friday night, defeating host Kenwood, 3-1.

Courtney Poole led the Harford Tech offense, posting two goals and one assists, while teammate Mikaela Hairston had one goal and one assist. Meagan Sturla notched one assists in the victory.

Harford Tech goalies Hannah Snyder and Kenady Schwinn had four saves and one save, respectively.

Patterson Mill edges Towson

The Patterson Mill girls came out of their Friday road game with a one-goal victory, as the Huskies topped host Towson, 3-2.

Linnea Gonzalez had one goal and one assist, while Alyssa Jourdan and Mariel Castronova each netted one goal. Julie Sibbesen and Taylor Wilhelm each had one assist.

Aberdeen topped

The Aberdeen Eagles suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of host Perryville on Friday.

The game was a tie until the final minute, when Perryville put away the lone goal.

Havre de Grace blanked

The Havre de Grace girls opened their season on Friday night with a 5-0 loss to Tome.
