According to deputies, Dwayne E. Johnson, 43, from Edgewood, was walking along Trimble Road when he was hit by a dark colored Ford Explorer, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

Crash investigators said they believe Johnson was trying to cross Trimble Road, which in that area does not have street lights or a crosswalk, according to the release.

The driver of the Explorer was Ricky Peterson, 54, also from Edgewood.

He was taken by a Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, where he died from his injuries, Kahler said.

Trimble Road between Route 152 and Route 24 was closed for several hours while the Harford County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit investigated the crash. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors, according to the release.

No charges have been filed; all fatal crashes are referred to the Harford County State's Attorney for review, according to the release.
