Taxi driver shot, robbed in Edgewood

A man and woman from Edgewood allegedly robbed and used a pellet gun to shoot a cab driver Sunday night when he took them to their destination, police said.

Amber M. Parks, 20, and Timothy A. Parland, 26, both of the 1000 block of Waterside Court, were charged Monday with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft less than $1,000 in connection with the incident.

Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies responded around 10 p.m. Sunday to the 2100 block of Pulaski Highway in Edgewood, where a cab driver told deputies that two people, later identified as Parks and Parland, had called for a cab ride from Edgewater Drive.

When the driver was dropping off the pair at Magnolia Woods Court, they displayed a weapon and demanded money, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The driver complied, but the suspects fired at him before running off.

Deputies said the driver was shot in the neck by a small caliber weapon, which could have been a pellet or BB gun.

Parks and Parland were arrested Monday and taken to Harford County Detention Center, where they were being held Tuesday on $75,000 and $50,000 bail, respectively.
