Armed robbery suspect charged after Edgewood barricade situation

A man suspected of committing three armed robberies in Harford County was charged Tuesday night after he barricaded himself in an Edgewood home for about 3 1/2 hours earlier in the day, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said.According to a Sheriff's Office news release, Brandon Ridge Anderson-Ballard, 27, was seen by a deputy from the Sheriff's Office Southern Precinct station while the deputy was conducting a patrol check in the 500 block of Trimble Road at about 10:29 a.m. Tuesday, following a report of a series of armed robberies in the area.Anderson-Ballard allegedly ran away, prompting a foot chase through a wooded area that ended with Anderson-Ballard barricading himself in a relative's house on Morgan Street in the Harford Commons neighborhood, according to the news release.Anderson-Ballard refused to communicate with deputies, who had secured the perimeter around the house. Sheriff's Office Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams responded to the scene and eventually contacted him, convincing him to peacefully surrender without incident or injury shortly before 2 p.m., police said.The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division assumed the investigation and, after being interviewed by CID detectives, Anderson-Ballard was taken to the Harford County Detention Center, where he was charged with a Sept. 28 armed robbery a Royal Farms store and armed robberies on Monday of Wings and Pies on Edgewood Road and Little Caesars on Hanson Road.In all three robberies, the suspect entered the business, displayed a gun, demanded money and took it from the cash register before leaving, Kahler said. No injuries occurred in any of the crimes.Anderson-Ballard is charged with two counts each of armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, using a firearm in a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, three counts of theft below $1,000 and one count of second-degree assault in the Monday incidents, according to online court records.He is charged with armed robbery, robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and theft below $1,000 in the Sept. 28 robbery, according to online records.Anderson-Ballard's address is listed as the 200 block of Redbud Road in Edgewood in court records for the Sept. 28 robbery. Court records for the Monday robberies state he has no fixed address.He is being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center, according to court records.
