Aberdeen dive team gets another win

The Aberdeen Dive Team had its best performance of the summer this week, prevailing over St. Andrews, of Severna Park, 43-33.

The Aberdeen team was led by five divers who secured first place finishes and 10 divers who each reached a qualifying score for the end of the season League Championship meet.

Leading the team with first place finishes were Rocky Ramsland (8U boys), Jeffrey Kretschmer (9-10 boys), Amanda Kretschmer (11-12 girls), Nikki Bayles (11-12 boys) and Ciana Campo (15-18 girls).

Ramsland set the stage by earning scores of 7 out of 10 on all three of his dives including a 1-1/2 somersault which he did perfectly with barely a splash. Jeffrey Kretschmer, Aberdeen's only 9-10 boy, was competing against seven other boys from the other team. He earned his best score of the season in taking first place.

Amanda Kretschmer remained undefeated in four meets this year by taking first in a field of seven 11-12 girls and performing the most difficult dive of the meet, a back somersault with 1-1/2 twists. She executed the dive perfectly and earned the highest point total of the entire meet. Bayles (11-12 boy) also had his best score and best meet in his two years on the team. Campo put up the best scores of the night (7.5's) on her inward dive and had her highest point total after executing a nearly perfect forward 2-somersault dive.

Other top contributors to Aberdeen's victory were Lindsay Culbertson (second) and Grace Long (third) in the 8U girls, Eden Taylor (second) in the 11-12 girls, Megan Culbertson (second) and Jillian Gardiner (third) in the 13-14 girls, and Hannah Malin in the 15-18 girls. Overall, 18 Aberdeen divers had their personal best scores of the season.
