A broken machine caused a fire at an Edgewood business that prompted a Hazmat response Tuesday afternoon, Harford County first responders reported.

Firefighters and the Hazmat Team responded to a large pile of tires on fire at Crazy Ray's Auto Parts, in the 1700 block of Pulaski Highway, shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The fire, which took 20 minutes to control, was caused by a tire mounting machine that failed, Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company spokesperson Andy Doyle said.

Hazmat was called because the machine leaked about 20 gallons of hydraulic fluid, Doyle said.
