Another heavy equipment convoy coming through Harford Monday, Tuesday nights

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, Aug. 8, at 9 p.m., a heavy equipment move convoy escorted by Maryland State Police and personnel from the Maryland State Highway Administration will depart from Vulcan Quarry in Havre de Grace and travel to Delta, Pa., over the next two nights.According to the State Highway Administration, the convoy will be off the highway by 5 a.m. each morning and will resume travel at 9 p.m.The convoy is transporting equipment that was barged to Vulcan's terminal on the Susquehanna River to Calpine Energy Corp.'s new 760 megawatt, combined cycle, gas fired generating plant, which is under construction at the company's York Energy Center in Peach Bottom Township.The transport contractor is Barnhart Rigging, SHA spokesperson Charlie Gischlar said Friday. Some traffic delays are possible when the convoy is moving.Monday night, the convoy will leave the quarry via Quarry Lane to Route 155 and then go west and down the I-95 ramps and cross over the interstate, returning to Route 155 and then turning north on Route 161 to Darlington. The convoy will next travel south on Route 1 to Route 136 north, where it will enter the Dublin United Methodist Church parking lot by 5 a.m. Tuesday.Tuesday night, the convoy will leave Dublin United Methodist and travel north on Route 136, then west on Route 440 to Route 543, turning north again to Route 165 and then east on 165.The convoy will reach its final stop in Maryland on Route 165 near the Pennsylvania state line by 5 a.m. Wednesday. Pennsylvania State Police will meet the convoy and provide an escort into Pennsylvania on Wednesday. From there the convoy will be escorted by Pennsylvania police and highway crews to the Calpine site near the intersection of Atom and Pikes Peak roads.In case of inclement weather, the convoy will proceed on the next possible night.According to Calpine's website, the York 2 generating plant is expected to begin commercial operation in the summer of 2017.
