The Community Foundation of Harford County, through its various funds, recently awarded nearly $3,300 in mini-grants to nonprofits in the community.
The Ann K. Gaumond Fund awarded $500 to SARC for the purchase of a sand table and supplies for a counseling program for children. Christian Childcare Center of Whiteford received $360 for the purchase of two cribs. Havre de Grace Maritime Museum was awarded $300 for the purchase of materials for the Hands-On Kid's Corner exhibit. LASOS received $200 to support the female youth mentoring program.
The Anne and John Gessner Fund awarded Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna $467 for the purchase of a carbon monoxide tester for building and rehab programs.
The Harford Community Fund presented $300 to FCCAU to support the Emergency Motel Night Fund; $250 to the Homecoming Project to purchase fresh produce for residents; and $100 to Wilson Ministry Center in support of the Getting There Ride Share program.
The Andrew and Jayne Klein Family Fund awarded $500 to Harford Community Action Agency to purchase a laptop computer for the Road to Success program.
Sadie's Fund presented $300 to The Humane Society of Harford County for the Healthy Felines program.
"By providing mini-grant awards, Community Foundation of Harford County can help nonprofits with specific projects that make a difference in the work they do every day," said Tamara W. Zavislan, executive director of the foundation. "The mini-grants come from various funds managed by the Community Foundation of Harford County, from those that are unrestricted, donor-advised or field-of-interest funds. Combined, they make a direct and positive impact on the services that Harford County nonprofits provide to improve the quality of life in our community."
Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC) is a nonprofit organization supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes about which they care.
Charitable gifts are used to make Harford County stronger through grant-making to local nonprofits and through scholarships. Since 2009, CFHC has awarded more than $136,000 in grants to Harford County nonprofit organizations. CFHC is one of 14 community foundations in Maryland and one of 700 across the country.
