The Harford Artists' Gallery celebrated its fifth anniversary in October with a variety of activities, starting Oct. 8 with a reception attended by Bel Air town officials, local politicians and representatives from the Cultural Arts Board, the Arts and Entertainment District of Bel Air and the Harford County Center for the Arts organization.

Highlighting the evening was a presentation by Harford County Councilman Richard Slutzky.

The Harford County Council, represented by Slutzky, honored the Harford Artists Association with a proclamation stating: "The Harford Artists' Gallery was instrumental in the Town of Bel Air qualifying for an Arts and Entertainment Designation; and that the Gallery benefits the community by conducting educational programs and activities in the visual arts, encouraging members to expand their artistic abilities and providing members with opportunities to present their artwork for display and educational purposes."

To continue the fifth anniversary celebration, an open house was held, followed Oct. 12 by the Family Art Festival Day at the gallery, which included children's art activities, caricature drawing sessions by Robert Vail, pet portraits by Ellie Tryon and plein air painting by Harford Artists Association members.
