Thursday night fire damages house across Carrs Mill Road from Fallston fire station

Fire damaged a house in Fallston located across Carrs Mill Road from the community's main fire station late Thursday night.

The fire in the single-story, ranch type house was reported just before 10 p.m. by a person who was driving by, according to fire investigators.

The house, which investigators estimate sustained $100,000 damage to the structure and contents, sits across Carrs Mill from the fire station and the Fallston High School softball field.

Equipment and firefighters from Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company and other area companies responded quickly, but it still required some 50 firefighters about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control, according to a State Fire Marshal's Office notice of investigation.

One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury and was treated at the scene and released, according to the notice. No civilian injuries were reported.

The fire originated in the kitchen of the house. The cause remained under investigation Friday morning.
