La Cakerie to open on Bel Air's Main Street

A Bel Air native is returning to Main Street with a third site for his La Cakerie bakery, known for winning the Food Network's &quot;Cake Wars&quot; and conquering several other dessert-based shows.Jason Hisley said he expects La Cakerie to open in the location of what had been The Jaded Bean, at 22 S. Main St., in late October. The Jaded Bean closed recently after opening just over a year ago.&quot;That's kind of my hometown, so I always wanted to open a store there,&quot; Hisley, who graduated from Bel Air High School in 2006, said about the new location.La Cakerie has existing stores in Towson and Baltimore's Mount Vernon.The Bel Air location will have &quot;a little bit more emphasis on the breakfast/coffee scene,&quot; he said, but will join the other two La Cakerie locations in offering pastries, &quot;amazing coffee and coffee drinks&quot; and more emphasis on weddings.&quot;The biggest thing for us is going to be some custom cakes or cupcakes,&quot; he said, adding he hopes to bring gelato as well, in the style of Italian bakeries.La Cakerie has already had a presence in Harford County, as Hisley had previously worked at Flavor Cupcakery and sold La Cakerie products in several places, including The Jaded Bean.Besides &quot;Cake Wars,&quot; Hisley has competed on &quot;Halloween Baking Championship,&quot; &quot;Sweet Genius,&quot; &quot;Cupcake Wars&quot; and &quot;Cutthroat Kitchen.&quot;Hisley, who lives in Parkville, has a pastry certification from Switzerland and will be executive chef as well as owner at the Bel Air site.&quot;We plan to do a lot of really fun stuff,&quot; he said.&quot;It will be a really, really funky, dynamic store,&quot; he said, before adding the new Bel Air location also will provide a traditional, quality bakery experience.
