Visit Harford!, which recently opened its new office and information center at 108 S. Bond St. in Bel Air, serves as the official destination marketing organization for Harford County. Those activities were spun away from county government earlier this year.

Last month, Harford County Executive Barry Glassman announced Visit Harford! would receive a $500,000 grant from the first disbursement of revenue from the new 6 percent county lodging tax. The money will be used to support the organization's operations, advertising and promotions, according to Glassman.

"The board is pleased to have Greg lead the organization, we are very excited to have him lead our tourism efforts," Patricia Parker, president of the board Visit Harford!, said in a news release announcing Pizzuto's hiring. "His enthusiasm for Harford County and his career experience fit well with the organization."

"Harford County is a wonderful place to live and visit with so many events and attractions. I look forward to working with all of the entities to promote Harford County locally, regionally and nationally," Pizzuto said in the release.

Pizzuto comes on board in time for the Maryland State BBQ Bash, which is sponsored by Visit Harford!, according to the release.

Visit Harford! will have a booth at the BBQ Bash on Aug. 14 and 15 and visitors are encouraged to stop by and welcome Pizzuto to his new position.
