A 32-year-old man was burned after putting gasoline in a fire pit in the 2500 block of Rainier Avenue in Bel Air South Saturday evening.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company responded after being alerted around 6:40 p.m., according to Jennifer Chenworth-Price, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association.

The victim was in serious condition when he was taken to a regional burn center, Chenworth-Price wrote on the association's public information page on Facebook.

Fire company officials notified the state fire marshal's office regarding the man's injury, but the on-call investigator "determined no further investigation was warranted on our behalf," Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire wrote in an email.
