CMW stays unbeaten in league play with boys hoop win over Bel Air

The C. Milton Wright boys basketball team knocked off another UCBAC Chesapeake Division foe Wednesday, beating neighboring rival and host Bel Air, 75-66.

The Mustangs (6-0, 13-1) led at the half, 41-25, but the Bobcats (4-3, 6-8) put together a 19-5 run to make a game of it.

Mychal Stefanides scored 17 points to lead the winners. Corey Bays added 15 points and Will Hazelton had nine. Stefanides and Hazelton each had eight assists and Dante Brown finished with nine rebounds and eight points.

Bel Air's Kevin Morrissey led all scorers with 21 points and Jacob Vasquez added 16 points off the bench. Anthony Miranda contributed six points, but they impacted the 19-5 comeback run in the second half.

"The 16-point halftime deficit was overcome by sheer heart and hustle," Bobcats coach Brent Nichols said. "One thing I have to say is, our program is getting better with every day."

Rams beat Cougars

Edgewood (2-4, 7-5) added a Chesapeake win Wednesday, beating host Fallston (0-7, 2-12), 71-51.

The Rams were led by Tyrone McKissett's 14 points. Raekwon Harrison netted 11 points to go along with five steals.Brandon Arnold, Immanuel Gladden-Stokes and Donavin Tilley each chipped in with eight points.

Edgewood led at the half, 38-18.

Warriors rout Tigers

Trying to keep pace in the battle atop the UCBAC Susquehanna Division boys basketball standings, Havre de Grace flexed its muscle a bit Tuesday night in its lopsided 66-32 win, 66-32, over visiting Rising Sun.

The Warriors (5-1 league, 11-2 overall) led 31-13 at the half, 31-13, and then outscored the Tigers (2-5, 3-6), 35-19, over the final two quarters to win big. This is the same Rising Sun team that beat Perryville, 53-50, a week after the Panthers had beaten Havre de Grace, 72-52.

Those results created the tie atop the Susquehanna standings.

Krs Yancey scored 19 points to lead the Warriors. Zayrron Blake added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Hawthorne chipped in with 10 points.

Hawks beat Indians

North Harford (4-3, 6-7) was also a winner Tuesday, beating visiting North East, 53-36, in Susquehanna play.

Brett Hurley had 16 points and five assists to guide the Hawks. Zach Stike had 11 points and Andrew Langan had nine. Kyle Munson contributed six points and a team-best five rebounds.

Eagles nip Huskies

Aberdeen (4-3, 8-7) went on the road to pick up a Chesapeake Division win, nipping Patterson Mill, 58-57. The Huskies slipped to 2-4 and 5-6.

Jayden Saddler poured in 20 points to lead the Eagles and Jaleel Gibson added 15.

Brad Burris pumped in 20 to pace the Huskies and Rahmon Felder added 11.

Cobras beat Elks

Harford Tech (4-2, 8-6) knocked host Elkton (4-2, 7-5) out of a first place tie with a 73-56 Susquehanna win on Tuesday. Tech led 44-30 at half.

Hunter Norcross had a huge night with 17 points and 25 rebounds. Fred Gordon added 23 points and seven rebounds and Darius Dangerfield had 16 points, five steals and four assists.

Bobcats beat Cougars

Bel Air won at Fallston, 50-44, Tuesday in Chesapeake action.

Morrissey led the Bobcats with 17 points and Jahari Carmichael added 10.
