A handful of boys basketball teams were back on the court Tuesday night and all were playing non-UCBAC division games.
Leading the way, Havre de Grace rolled over visiting Harford Christian, 65-41, behind an aggressive and balanced scoring attack.
HCS tried to press Havre de Grace, but the Warriors speed and athleticism was too much. The Warriors led, 15-7, through the first quarter that ended with Krs Yancey's buzzer-beating three-pointer.
A 17-10 edge in the second quarter boosted the Havre de Grace lead to 32-17 at the half. Jordan Hawthorne added a two-point buzzer shot to close the half.
The lead quickly ballooned to 19 in quarter three, 37-18, but HCS made a brief comeback and on Paul Franco's three-point play, trailed, 39-29, with 2:38 left in the quarter.
Havre de Grace, however, closed the quarter on an 8-2 run to lead, 47-31.
The Warriors (9-2) then used the final quarter to take full control, scoring several baskets on fast breaks.
Hawthorne scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the second half to pace the winners. Zayrron Blake added 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Krs Yancey and Robert Surrette had 10 points each. Surrette also had 11 boards. Josh Penn added eight points.
Moe Epps scored 16 for the Eagles (12-6) and Sean Hughes finished with nine, after scoring the Eagles' first seven points.
