Three men broke into a downtown Bel Air apartment early Monday morning and stole several items from the people inside at gunpoint, police said.
Around 12:15 a.m., three men entered the apartment above a store in the 100 block of Thomas Street, according to Sgt. Jim Lockard of the Bel Air Police Department.
One of the three men displayed a black semiautomatic handgun, he said. The other two men took wallets, money and cell phones from the seven people inside the apartment.
The men ran off on Hays Street toward Route 1, where they got into a car and drove off, Lockard said.
Police recovered some of the items stolen, he said, declining to elaborate.
The apartment above the store was not a random location to pick, Lockard said.
"If you didn't know there was an apartment there, you wouldn't know there's an apartment there," he said. "It's not like it's an apartment building or a single-family home."
Investigators had not made any arrests as of Tuesday afternoon.
