'House that Bel Air Built' to be dedicated this Friday

This Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m., Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna, Inc. will cut the ribbon on the "House That Bel Air Built," located at 404 Giles Street in Bel Air.

This will be the 71st home HHS has built since its inception in 1993 and the first constructed in the Bel Air town limits.

The House That Bel Air Built is the future home of Roger and Holly Crouse and their seven children. The Crouse family is one of more than 200 families Habitat has served throughout Harford and Cecil counties in the organization's 20-year history, Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna said in a news release announcing dedication of the home.

More than 300 volunteers worked on the home, whether they hammered together an exterior frame or painted a bedroom wall.

"We will never forget every hour they spent building our home," said Holly Crouse. "The fingerprints that they leave behind will always be within our walls. Our home will stand because of them."

This project was possible thanks to primary house sponsor Harford Mutual Insurance Companies; a sponsorship from the Greater Bel Air Community Foundation; funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through Harford County government.

In-kind and financial support was also received from the Town of Bel Air; a grant was received from the Maryland Affordable Housing Trust; and donations were received from G & M Automotive, Harford Community College, Softwood Lumber, United Way of Central Maryland the Bel Air Downtown Alliance, First Mariner Bank, Sappari Solutions, Whiting-Turner and the Women's 5K by the Bay.

All are invited to celebrate and welcome the Crouse family to the neighborhood. Parking will be available in the Rockfield lot at the end of Ewing Street. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., and guests are encouraged to tour the home and enjoy refreshments.
