The facility was not evacuated and the children remained inside, Gardiner said.

A tree crew was on the scene by 3 p.m., removing the debris, which included part of the trees trunk and several large limbs.

The day care center remained open and reopened normally on Thursday morning.

"A tree fell and grazed the roof of the building," Lydia Cisaruk, communication director for Learning Care Group, Inc., which represents Childtime, said in an email Thursday.
