About 3,800 BGE customers in the Bel Air area lost power for up to 12 minutes Wednesday afternoon after a local transformer tripped, according to a spokesperson for the utility.
BGE's Rachael Lighty said the exact cause of the tripped transformer, which is in Fountain Green east of Bel Air, is still under investigation.
She said the power went out at 1:37 p.m., and it was restored by 1:49 p.m.
"We were able to restore all customers through automation," Lighty said. "We can pull in different power supplies from different equipment, so we are able to get customers restored pretty quickly."
