Fundraising, funeral arrangements made for family of mother, daughter killed in Bel Air crash

An online crowdfunding page has been set up by the Bel Air United Methodist Church to help raise money for the Boulan family following the death of Stacy Pell-Boulan, 47, and her 4-year-old daughter, Caitlyn, in a car crash Saturday.The Boulans, who live near Bel Air, are members of the Methodist church. The page is at https://www.youcaring.com/michael-boulan-young-sons-mikey-eddie-robbie-matthew-631560.The family is also arranging a private funeral service through Schimunek Funeral Home, of Bel Air, and is planning a celebration of the lives of Mrs. Pell-Boulan and Caitlyn for a later date, according to family spokesperson Dawn Slagle-Skalka, Mrs. Pell-Boulan's sister-in-law.Survivors include her husband, Michael, their sons, Michael, Edward, Robert and Matthew, and Mrs. Pell-Boulan's older children, Christopher and Sabrina, from a previous relationship, as well as extended family members, according to an obituary published in The Baltimore Sun Wednesday.The fundraising page has been set up through YouCaring, which is billed as &quot;compassionate crowdfunding.&quot;Users are not charged fees to set up fundraising pages, although donors must pay a processing fee of about 3 percent per payment to send their contributions via a third-party credit card processing firm, according to the website. (David Anderson / BSMG)Another crowdfunding page was set up on GoFundMe after the crash, but Michael Boulan, the husband, had not authorized that page for collecting donations, according to Slagle-Skalka, the family spokesperson and Michael Boulan's sister.She noted in a statement that the family's church &quot;has offered to spearhead and manage any donations to help his family with assistance.&quot;The fundraising goal for the Boulan family is $37,600 to cover funeral costs and replace the family vehicle, according to the YouCaring page.Mrs. Pell-Boulan's husband and their four sons are considering purchasing a used SUV, according to the fundraising page.Mrs. Pell-Boulan was driving a Lincoln SUV, her family's only vehicle, when the accident happened on Route 24 near Harford Mall in Bel Air. Police are still investigating how she veered to the left and struck a tree on the median.The SUV burst into flames after the crash. Mrs. Pell-Boulan's son, 16-year-old Michael, escaped, but she and her daughter could not get out of the vehicle before it caught fire.
