He said he noticed the back window of the Jeep was open and a passenger was holding something black and laughing as the vehicle drove on Route 40 toward Edgewood, according to the release.

Matthew Joseph Humphries, 18, of the 3900 block of Love Avenue in Edgewood, was identified as a suspect in the shooting, according to police.

A loaded BB rifle with a folding stock was later found in the vehicle, which was pulled over at 7-Eleven at Route 40 and Long Bar Harbor Road.

Humphries and a driver, Patrick Michael McDermott, 18, of the 1300 block of Winding Valley Drive in Joppa, were both charged with first- and second-degree assault, according to the statement.
