Squaring off with the Chesapeake (upper) Division's Fallston Cougars in Monday baseball, the Susquehanna (lower) Division's Harford Tech Cobras held their guests to zero runs and just two hits in an 8-0 victory.
The win put Harford Tech (11-3 Susquehanna) at 12-5 in regular-season games. Fallston (3-9 Chesapeake) fell to 4-14 for the season.
Harford Tech starter Nick Waite went five innings, striking out three, walking four and surrendering one hit before exiting. Noah Davis threw a scoreless sixth inning, allowing Fallston's second and final hit. Kyle Zentkovich came on for the Cobras in the seventh and tossed a perfect inning, striking out two of the three hitters he faced.
Waite helped his cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Jeremy Brown was 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly, while teammate Travis Hash was 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBIs. Harford Tech's A.J. Borg was 1-for-2 with one walk.
Both of the Cougars' hits were doubles by Wyatt Alexander.
Havre de Grace splits twin bill
Havre de Grace (4-14 overall, 3-11 Susquehanna) split a double-header with the visiting Tome School squad on Monday, with the Warriors losing the opener, 13-3, then rebounding to take the second game, 6-4.
Kyle Greskoff led the Warriors' offense in the game-one loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Havre de Grace's Christian Amici was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, while teammate Kyle Gorham was 1-for-3 with a double and one run.
In their game-two victory, the Warriors were paced at the plate by Amici, who went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and one run. Cameron Standiford was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the victory, and teammate Jared Lewis was 1-for-1 with two runs. Gorham, Eddie Hofer and Tommy Murtaugh each scored one run.
Warrior reliever Christian Glassman earned the win, going five innings in which he struck out one, walked three and allowed two earned runs on three hits. Dominick Bolen started for Havre de Grace, holding Tome hitless and surrendering one earned run over two innings of work.
Bobcats clinch Chesapeake title with win
The Bel Air Bobcats won on the road Friday, beating host Rising Sun, 5-1, to capture the UCBAC Chesapeake (upper) Division title.
With the win, Bel Air (12-4 overall) wrapped up its Chesapeake schedule at 10-2.
On Wednesday, the Bobcats will take on Susquehanna (lower) Division champ Bo Manor in the UCBAC baseball title game. That contest will be played at Harford Community College at 6:30 p.m.
North Harford beats Patterson Mill
The North Harford Hawks knocked off the visiting Patterson Mill Huskies, 5-3, on Friday in an UCBAC Chesapeake Division matchup.
The win put North Harford at 12-6 overall, and 7-5 against upper division opponents. Patterson Mill dropped to 9-8 overall, and 3-8 in the Chesapeake Division standings.
Trailing, 1-0, heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Hawks posted three runs. The Huskies tied things, 3-3, with two runs in the top half of the sixth, but North Harford answered in the bottom part of the inning with the game's final two tallies.
North Harford's Austin Reitz tossed a complete game, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out five Husky batters.
The Hawks' Logan Smith was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while teammate Nic Hammer was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Patterson Mill's Robert Besante and Griffin Marge each belted a double in the loss.
Edgewood over Havre de Grace
The Edgewood Rams took a 6-1 victory over visiting Havre de Grace in a Friday Susquehanna (lower) Division contest.
Edgewood improved to 9-7 overall, and 9-4 against lower division teams. Havre de Grace slipped to 3-12 overall, and 3-10 in Susquehanna Division games.
Edgewood's Trey Hathaway, Kaliel Barmer, Jose Figueroa and Patrick Murphy each belted a double in the victory.
Ram starter Nicholas Logue struck out two, didn't walk a batter and held Havre de Grace to one run on seven hits in a complete-game effort.
Havre de Grace's Cameron Standiford was 2-for-3 with one run scored, while teammate Dominick Bolen had one RBI. Kyle Greskoff went 2-for-3 in the loss.
Fallston tramples North East
The Fallston Cougars (4-13 overall, 3-9 Chesapeake) rebounded from a loss the previous afternoon to defeat the visiting North East Indians Friday, 12-7, on Senior Day.
Fallston's Kyle Tyree, Luke Gover, Hunter Ryan each roped two hits apiece, while teammate Wyatt Alexander ripped a double in the win.
All nine of Fallston's starting hitters had at least one RBI.
Harford Tech defeated
Harford Tech lost its Friday road game with Bo Manor, as the Cobras (13-5 overall, 11-3 Susquehanna) were beaten, 6-2, by the Eagles.
The Cobras' Ryan Horseman went 1-for-3 with a double, Travis Hash was 1-for-3 and Tyler Mister went 1-for-2 with a walk in the loss.
Mister started the game for Harford Tech, allowing five hits, striking out three and walking three in 3-1/3 innings.
Bel Air beats Fallston
The Bel Air Bobcats put another check in their Chesapeake Division win column Thursday afternoon, dispatching host Fallston, 11-6.
With the victory, Bel Air improved to 11-3 overall, and 9-2 against Chesapeake Division foes. The Cougars fell to 3-13 on the season and 2-9 in upper division games.
Bel Air led, 10-0, after 4-1/2 innings, but Fallston was able to post four runs in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going. Bel Air countered with a run in the visiting half of the sixth, and Fallston notched its final two runs in the bottom part of the inning.

North Harford beats Rising Sun
Squaring off with the visiting Rising Sun Tigers on Thursday, the North Harford Hawks (11-6 overall, 6-5 Chesapeake) overcame an early deficit to take a 9-6 victory.
Trailing, 3-0, after the top half of the second, the Hawks scored once in the home half of the inning, then posted one more run in the third. A four-run rally in the fourth put the hosts up, 6-3.
North Harford extended its advantage to 8-3 with two more runs in the fifth, while Rising Sun cut the Hawks' lead down to a pair or tallies by scoring three times in the top of the sixth. The Hawks scored the game's final run in the bottom of the sixth.
North Harford's Richie Greene had a double and two singles, while teammate Logan Smith had a double and a single. Brian Shaffer roped a pair of base hits in the victory.
