Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Singer and Atkisson roads, Kahler said, and found the body in woods near the Atkisson Dam, which is owned by the U.S. Army.

"There were no signs of foul play, trauma or injury," Kahler said. "At this time, the cause of death is being investigated as an overdose, possibly heroin related."

"Because of the active drug investigation, no further details are being released at this time," Kahler said.

No other fatal overdoses were reported to the Sheriff's Office on Monday, according to Kahler.

Kahler said the Sheriff's Office is not releasing the man's name because its investigation is still in progress.
