Worker injured by electrical current in Abingdon Wednesday

A man was injured by electrical current while working in the vicinity of Otter Point Road and Route 40 in Abingdon Wednesday afternoon.

Rich Gardiner, spokesperson for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association, said the man, who is in his 50s, was in a bucket truck, although the exact cause of his injuries is unknown.

Gardiner said the man, who was not identified, was taken to a "regional trauma center." Gardiner had no details on the man's condition.

Gardiner said first responders were alerted at 12:30 p.m.

Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company Chief Monti Arrington said EMS workers from his company responded, but Arrington also didn't have any information about the victim's condition.

Maureen O'Connor, a spokesperson for the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, said the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health division, or MOSH, is investigating the incident.

O'Conner said she could not comment further on an open investigation.
