A woman was extricated from a vehicle following a two-car crash in Abingdon Tuesday afternoon, officials from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company said.
First responders from Abingdon responded to the accident at Route 924 and St. Mary's Church Road around 12:19 p.m., said Lt. Lopes, of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company.
Lopes said a woman was trapped in the driver seat of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. He said a second unit was called to the scene to help extract the woman.
"We had to roll down [cut] the driver's side front and rear door to get the patient out," Lopes said.
Lopes said the woman suffered from minor injuries and was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.
He said the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, also a woman, was likewise transported to Upper Chesapeake with minor injuries.
Based on an initial investigation, Lopes said, it appears one of the vehicles ran a stop sign, but he said it was unclear which vehicle was at fault.
