Fire damaged an Aberdeen motel Wednesday night, forcing the evacuation of several people staying there, fire investigators said.
The initial call for the fire at the Aberdeen In-Town Motel, in the 400 block of Philadelphia Boulevard, was dispatched at 8:35 p.m. after being discovered by a motel guest, according to a notice of investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
An estimated 45 firefighters from five Harford County fire companies responded and brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes, according to the notice of investigation.
The fire originated in the motel office and was mostly contained to that area, investigators said. Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the structure and $25,000 to contents.
No injuries were reported; however, eight guests or tenants were displaced and relocated to other motels in the area.
Investigators said the fire was accidental, citing electrical failure as the preliminary cause.
Responding fire companies included Aberdeen Fire Department, Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department, Susquehanna Hose Company of Havre de Grace, Level Volunteer Fire Company and Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company.
