A 56-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested earlier this week after police found marijuana plants, guns and packaging material at his house, the Aberdeen Police Department said.
Jeffrey Newman, of the first block of Liberty Street, was the subject of a search and seizure warrant executed by the Aberdeen Police Special Operations Unit at about 3 p.m. Monday, according to a police department news release and online court records.
Police searched the house and seized one pound of raw marijuana, six mature marijuana plants, two shotguns and a revolver, according to the release.
The Aberdeen Police Department is down six of 42 officers, because of training and extended leaves, so officers have been working 12-hour shifts since Sunday and will be doing so through the end of this year.
They also seized packaging material, money, drug paraphernalia and related items.
Newman was charged with possessing marijuana, possessing drugs with intent to distribute, manufacturing drugs, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, having a firearm in a drug trafficking crime, possessing firearms with drugs and possessing a rifle or shotgun with a felony conviction, according to online court records.
He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center on $75,000 bond, according to online court records.
