The driver of a box truck who was killed in an accident on I-95 near the Riverside exit in Harford County Monday morning has been identified as Terrell Allbrook, 21, of Baltimore, Maryland State Police said.
Allbrook was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 7:50 a.m. near the Route 543 interchange, Exit 80, according to a State Police news release issued through the JFK Highway Barrack.
Allbrook was traveling with Shawna Beckett, 25, also of Baltimore, who was flown by State Police Medevac to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of injuries from the crash, State Police said.
Beckett's condition was stable at 4:30 p.m., according to Trooper Sander at the JFK Highway Barrack, who is investigating the accident.
State Police said that Allbrook was driving south on I-95 in a 2006 Sterling box truck when he lost control "for unknown reasons." State Police Sgt. Justin Gross, at the JFK Highway Barrack, and Sander both said no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Initial reports about the accident on the Harford County Fire and EMS Association media Facebook page said a truck had overturned in the northbound median of I-95 near the Riverside exit.
I-95 was closed for about two hours to northbound and southbound traffic, so the helicopter could land to transport the injured passenger in the truck, State Police said.
Monday's fatality was third highway related death in Harford County since June 21, the second since Thursday and the 11th this year.
