I wholeheartedly support Kathryn Carmello for the Harford County Board of Education. Kathryn is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to education issues. She has been a dedicated public servant, involved parent and great champion for students, parents and teachers.
In her career with the Harford County Public School System (HCPS) as the governmental liaison, she was always standing up for students and staff and never gave up. Kathryn was the one person I knew that I could trust to get to me the most accurate and up to date information on education issues. She is a great listener and problem solver. Kathryn has excellent ideas about the future of pre-k to 12 and how universities and colleges can collaborate with school districts in order to forge a strong relationship that will produce greater opportunities for students in Harford County.
We live in a time of significant mandates from the state and federal governments and face many fiscal challenges. The demand for experienced, knowledgeable and most of all caring board members could not be greater. Kathryn Carmello meets and exceeds all of the criteria. Whether it is setting high standards for district employee performance and student achievement, or her knowledge of the budgeting process, Kathryn’s background in education has helped set the foundation for significant progress in our schools.
I have known Kathryn for over 20 years and I worked closely with her in Annapolis. This is why I know she will be a true advocate for students and teachers alike. She will help ensure that every child has the chance to maximize his or her potential. I wish her the very best on Nov. 6 and can see no better person than Kathryn Carmello for the Harford County Board of Eduction.
