Lions Club hosting Community Friendship Night Thursday

The community wishes to extend their sincerest sympathies to Cindy Stone and family on the recent passing of her mother.

The Lions Club will be hosting a Community Friendship Night Thursday at Fiore Winery. Light refreshments will be served and information will be distributed about the club's activities and community individuals who have assisted the club in carrying out our service activities will be recognized. At the Ugly Waitress Spaghetti Dinner, the firefighters of Darlington Volunteer Fire Company are joining with the men of the Lions Club to serve up a spaghetti dinner that includes salad, bread, desert and drinks from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday in the fire company social hall. What will make this a special event is the men will borrow from the wardrobes of their wife, mother or significant other to dress for the occasion. It is a sight that you won't want to miss. Dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and under. Be sure to bring a couple of extra singles to tip your favorite waitress.

The Gadabouts who meet every month will hold their May meeting on May 14 at Grace Memorial Church Parish House. The Darlington elementary Music Program will entertain. Mark your calendars so you can join us in great fun and fellowship.

Darlington-Dublin Community Council will host a Candidates Forum on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company social hall at 2600 Castleton Road in Darlington. The council has arranged this event in an effort to promote citizen interest in actively taking part in the affairs of government. Candidates will be given two minutes to make an a opening statement. Questions will be solicited from the audience on cards which will be provided to them. Sixty seconds will be provided to respond to these questions. Questions should be directed to all candidates for the same office and must be of general interest to Harford County rather than of a personal nature pertaining to one particular family's needs or wishes. Each candidate will also have an opportunity for a 60 second closing statement.

All candidates on the ballot from the following offices have been invited: County Executive, County Council President, Count Council District D, Clerk of the Court, Register of Wills, Sheriff, Board of Education District D and F, State Senator District 35 and Delegate District 35B. Whether candidates are contested or unopposed, they will have an opportunity to state their case in this local community forum.

For your convenience, the DVFC will be opening their kitchen to sell light dinner fare. the building will be open at 5 p.m.

It's not to early to start thinking about summer camp! For many years, the Wilson Center has offered a Summer Fun Camp program for area children in kindergarten through eighth grade. The program takes place at the center and runs for nine weeks (start date depends on the last day of school). A variety of activities are provided for the children in a "family type" setting where they can enjoy themselves in a structured but relaxed atmosphere. In order to prepare for adequate staffing, please contact the Center if you are interested in hag your children attend the camp program this summer. Early registration incentives will begin in April. The 19th annual Dublin Country Fair will be held on the grounds of Dublin Elementary School, Saturday, May 3, rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day offers something for all ages.

The fair starts out with a fabulous parade at 10 a.m. Have an antique car you'd like to show everyone? Or a community group that would like to be in the parade? Sign up to participate! It's free! Parade participants include antique cars, tractors, floats, fire and rescue apparatus and marching units.

The parade is followed by a family-friendly fair, with live entertainment starting at 11 a.m. Come join the fun! The fair includes many craft vendors, delicious food and numerous children's games.

Yoga classes are held at Grace Church Parish Hall from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A Knitting Group will be held every Thursday at the Wilson Ministry Center from 10 a.m to noon.

The Harford Artists Gallery presents Spring In Bloom from May 1 through June 29. Reception is on Saturday, May 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. Gallery hours are: Thursday and Friday 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. at Rockfield Manor 503 E. Churchville Road in Bel Air.
