Second suspect arrested in Joppatowne fatal shooting

Mahealani Linne Donawa, 22, of Edgewood was arrested Thursday in connection with a December 2021 shooting that left a Joppatowne man dead. Donawa is the girlfriend of Alton William Cumbo Jr. of Edgewood, who was arrested and charged with the death of William James Doran on Dec. 10, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 6:45 p.m. Dec. 10, deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in the 500 block of Dembytown Road in Joppatowne. Medics who were called to the scene began performing CPR on Doran, who was found in the car, and discovered he was shot in the upper body. Medics transported Doran to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he died.
