15-year-old accidentally shot by another teen playing with gun Edgewood home, police say

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental shooting that sent a 15-year-old to the hospital early Monday morning.

The teen was at his 14-year-old friend’s home in the 800 block of West Spring Meadow Court in Edgewood when they found a gun in a closet, according to the sheriff’s office. While the 14-year-old was handling the weapon, it fired and struck the 15-year-old.

The teenagers were in the home alone at the time of the incident.

Deputies arrived at approximately 12:40 a.m. and found the 15-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound the the upper body. The teen was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The 14-year-old was charged as a juvenile with reckless endangerment, police said. He was released to the custody of a guardian.
