A statement posted on the Facebook page of the law firm representing the council, Rifkin Weiner Livingston, LLC, states: “Plaintiffs and the County Council entered into an agreed upon mediation process. The result of which is Plaintiffs have voluntarily dismissed their complaint, with prejudice. The case is over.”
The current redistricting bill will remain in effect without any changes, according to the statement.
Controversy arose when the council passed a redistricting map for the county that did not align with the recommendations from the council’s redistricting commission. County Executive Barry Glassman vetoed the bill, but the council overrode the veto.
A legislative aide for Council President Patrick Vincenti said he had “no additional comments on this matter.”
Havre de Grace Mayor Bill Martin declined to comment until after a closed session with the city attorney following Monday’s City Council meeting .
