Free training course for prospective Harford County correctional officers

A free training course will be offered by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office for anyone interested in becoming a correctional officer at the Harford County Detention Center.

The course, which is paid for by the sheriff’s office, will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 6 to Sept. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Harford Community College’s Edgewood Hall, room 209, according to an HCC news release.


The course includes introductory public safety training, job information, background checks and an overview of the detention center. People who successfully complete the course are guaranteed a job interview to become a correctional officer.
