Police are investigating after a Joppa man riding his motorcycle Thursday morning was struck by another vehicle while stopped at a traffic light in Aberdeen. Gregg Wood, 57, died in the crash.
Maryland State Police troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Route 40 and Route 7 in Aberdeen around 5:10 a.m. for a report of the crash. Police said Wood was stopped at the traffic light on eastbound Route 40 at Route 7 when a 2001 Dodge minivan, also traveling east on Route 40, failed to stop, hitting the motorcycle from behind.
The male driver of the minivan, who police did not identify, remained at the scene. There were no other injuries as a result of the crash.
Alcohol does not appeared to have been a factor in the crash, Ron Snyder, a spokesperson for state police, said.
No charges have been filed at this time, police said, pending the outcome of the investigation. The driver of the minivan is not in custody.
Troopers are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Bel Air Barrack at 410-838-4101.
