A 25-year-old man is dead following a fatal collision on Route 40 in Edgewood, the Maryland State Police reported Friday.
Just after 12:30 p.m. Friday, troopers responded to a collision on westbound Route 40 at the Route 24 overpass involving a motorcycle, according to a news release.
Police said a Chevrolet Impala was making a U-turn from eastbound Route 40 to westbound Route 40 near the overpass and, while turning, a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling west collided with the Impala.
Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found the motorcycle driver unresponsive and began CPR, according to police. The motorcyclist was taken to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air by the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company.
Antonio Gardner, of Edgewood, was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. The driver of the Impala, who police did not identify, was taken to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing, state police said, and anyone with information about the collision should call the Bel Air Barrack at 410-879-2101.
