Brightview Avondell ‘drags’ down Alzheimer’s, raising funds through Power Wheels race

Associates at Brightview Avondell, a senior living community in Bel Air, donned wild hats and drove Power Wheels cars in a drag race Wednesday to entertain residents and raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

A crowd of residents and fellow coworkers cheered on each driver as they raced to the finish to “drag” down the debilitating disease they have all witnessed among senior citizens.

“Events like this, where you can entertain and raise money for a worthy cause, is such a great example of what makes Avondell so special,” said Bre Mastromarino, a senior concierge at Avondell who came up with the event and also was one of the 11 participants.

The race, along with raffles and donations from local businesses, raised over $2,500 to be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
