The Baltimore City Department of Public Works on Wednesday will clear and inspect a 60-inch storm drain line below Key Highway after conditions there prompted closure the highway's right lane, officials said Tuesday.
The lane has been closed for several weeks. DPW spokesman Kurt Kocher said "sinking conditions" of the storm drain line prompted the highway above it to be closed. He said debris will be cleared from the drain line, and officials will then be able to determine if the line is damaged.
"Clearing has to be done before we can get a better picture of whether there is a problem there," Kocher said.
The closure is about a mile from Interstate 95 and has resulted in traffic snarls during both the morning and evening commutes.
