Construction worker critically injured in 20-foot fall into empty pool in Aberdeen

A construction worker was critically injured in a 20-foot fall in Aberdeen on Monday, officials said.

The man, whose name was not released, fell about 2:30 p.m. into an empty swimming pool from the roof of a Holiday Inn that is being remodeled in the 1000 block of Beards Hill Road, said Aberdeen Fire Chief Steve Hinch.

The circumstances of the fall were unknown. Hinch described his injuries as "pretty serious, but non-life-threatening."

Maryland Occupational Safety and Health officials were called to the scene to investigate.
