Great white shark detected near Ocean City

A great white shark named Brunswick was detected Thursday evening and again Friday morning off the coast of Ocean City.

Scientists detected the young male shark via his satellite tracker, with which he was tagged by the organization Ocearch in Hilton Head, S.C., in February.

Brunswick spans 8 feet 9 inches and weighs more than 430 pounds, according to his Ocearch profile. He is considered to be a “sub-adult” — older than a juvenile, but not a full adult.

Since he was tagged in February, Brunswick has zigzagged his way up the coast. He was detected again Sunday near Montauk, N.Y.
