Associated Press

BERLIN, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a Virginia man has been killed in a fiery crash in West Ocean City.

Maryland State Police say 19-year-old Nicholas Quental, of Manassas Park, Virginia, died Wednesday night following the one-vehicle wreck in Worcester County.

Police reports show that Quental was driving along Route 50 when, for unknown reasons, he traveled into the center median and hit a tree. Police say Quental was thrown from the car and then the car caught fire. He pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Troopers say the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
