Rec Sports: Carroll Gymnastics Level 6 team takes 2nd

On Feb. 11-12, Carroll Gymnastics in Westminster competed in the Valentine Invitational meet in Baltimore County. Carroll gymnastics had 38 girls compete in the meet, with the Level 6 team taking second place.

The Level 3 team, coached by Kate Gardner, Courtney Niles and Jessica Lockatell, took 5th place with a team score of 108.6 and 3 gymnasts placed in the top 5 in at least one event. Alexis Colson placed 2nd on bars (9.250) while Brooke Hodges took 1st on vault (9.15), 4th on bars (9.05), 3rd on floor (9.2) and 4th all around (35.85). Cecilia Sifuentes scored a 9.3 on bars (4th) and took 4th all around (35.8).

The Level 4 team, coached by Haley Zincon, Megan Wooden and Jessica Barnes, took 3rd place with a score of 107.375 and had 6 gymnasts that placed in the top 5 in at least one event. Emily Eltringham took 3rd on beam (9.05) and 4th on floor (8.9). Megan Fique performed well with an 8.9 on vault (3rd), 8.875 on bars (4th), 8.7 on beam (5th), 9.2 on floor (2nd) and 35.675 all around for 3rd place. Emergy Gesell placed 2nd on beam (9.125), 5th on floor (8.65) and 5th all around (35.05). Hailey Gesell took 4th on beam (9.05) while Lily Kim took 5th on vault (8.6), 2nd on beam (8.9) and 4th all around (34.725). Norina Owusu scored 8.7 on vault (4th), 9.1 on bars (3rd), 9.0 on floor (3rd) and a 35.5 all around for 3rd place.

The Level 6 team, coached by Wendy Bloom, took 2nd place with a score of 111.125 and had 5 gymnasts place in the top 5 in at least one event. Hunter Broman took 4th on floor (9.375). Ryehn Byrnes took 1st on bars (9.275), 3rd on beam (9.4) and 2nd all around (36.75). Cassie Gilden scored 9.05 on bars (4th) and 9.275 on beam (4th) while Rachael Herman took 5th on beam (9.25). Hannah Shipton took 5th on bars (8.95), 2nd on beam (9.425) and 5th all around (36.125).

Level 7 competitor Kyra Martindale had a great meet taking 1st on bars (9.3), 5th on beam (9.0), 3rd on floor (9.3) and 4th all around (36.1).
