Carroll Varsity Q&A: Westminster's Kenton VanderWoude

Kenton VanderWoude chats with us in this week's Q&A. (Megan Woodward / Carroll County Times)

What is your favorite thing about participating in the holiday tournaments?

"Definitely just getting some games in over the break. If we didn't have this then we would be practicing every day for a week and a half, or two weeks without any games; so you get some competition in and still have games go on through the break that will make us better after the break."

How do you think practice has really been working for this team so far this season in the progress you guys have been making?

"We've made a lot of progress honestly, through all the summer league stuff that we did. We came in pretty prepared because of the summer league stuff, but we've made major improvements, big steps in both offense and defense."

Who is the most difficult teammate to go against in practice?

"The most difficult teammate to go up against in practice would probably be Roman [Hawkins] because he's tall, he's lanky, plays good defense, plays aggressive and he makes me better."

What is your New Year's resolution?

"My New Year's resolution is hopefully to win some games with my boys and bring home a county championship."

If you had to pick your most favorite thing you miss about football, what would it be and why?

"Honestly, my teammates. I love those guys, love them to death. I've been playing with them, some of them, since fifth grade and we had a great year. It was a lot of fun."
